Hunting in Bay City MI

There are many areas around the bay city region to hunt.  Most of which is farmland or otherwise state owned forest.  Many prefer areas in the thicker woods for early season because it is archery. On the other hand farmers fields with natural food for the deer is a great open spot for when November 15th rolls around. As you all know if you live in bay city there arent the greatest hunting spots without going a few miles out of the way.  but the further into the outdoors you go the more bucks you will find.

Most hunters start out on state land and move on to purchasing their own land later. so, the big question is..... "Where can i go hunt on some state land for free?  Well, the answer is quite simple.  pack up your things and get ready to travel lots of people hunt in the Munger area because of all the farm fields and great food plots. But that is all land that you must obtain permission to use.  There is a diamond in the rough just about 25 minutes north of bay city in a tiny little town called Estey.  I have hunted here for years and always fill my freezer.  It starts off on a long dirt road going back through the woods and it winds and winds with endless little spots to trot right in and hunt.  The state land in estey gets pretty hectic sometimes during rifle season but it is worth the trip and the adventure.  Especially if you come home with a big buck for the family.
